Report Of Student With Weapon On SRVHS Campus Unfounded: DPD

The school was on lockdown for about forty minutes while police investigated a report of a student on campus with a weapon.

DANVILLE, CA — Staff and students at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville were placed on a brief lockdown Thursday afternoon while police investigated a report of a student with a weapon on campus. Police located the student and after interviewing the juvenile, determined that they did not have a weapon.

Chief Allan Shields said that while the report was ultimately unfounded, he expressed gratitude for the awareness and courage of the students who reported their concerns to school authorities.

“Taking the time to report a potential threat is a vital first step to preventing a possible tragedy,” he said. “The best advice we can continue to give our community in this regard is, ‘If you see something, say something.’”

The lockdown was lifted at about 1:30 p.m.

Danville Police encourage the community to report any suspicious behavior or concerns. If it is of immediate concern, call 911. For non-emergencies, call (925) 820-2144. For those who wish to report a tip anonymously, you can use the Nixle tipline by texting “DANPD” and your tip to 888-777.
