Stone Valley Middle School Celebrates the Start of Construction
The school was originally built as a K-8 school in 1959 on 9.9 acres.

ALAMO, CA: The construction of Stone Valley Middle School (SVMS) is officially under way following an official groundbreaking celebration on May 12, 2016. San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) Board President Greg Marvel and Superintendent Mary Shelton were joined by Contra Costa County Supervisor Candace Andersen and Stone Valley Middle School Principal Jon Campopiano in turning the first shovels of dirt on the construction zone.
“This is a much-needed project that will completely transform the learning environment for Stone Valley Middle School students, teachers and staff,” said SRVUSD Superintendent Mary Shelton. “We are grateful that our voters supported this project through the passage of the Measure D facilities bond.”
School board members, community members, students, parents and staff joined in the celebration of a project that will completely transform an aging campus into a 21st century learning environment. The campus includes the complete replacement of the majority of the classrooms with modern science labs, elective class spaces, a music room, access to technology and a commons area where students can gather in a safe environment.

“This is community that deserves the best and thanks to the collaborative efforts of San Ramon Valley Unified School District and our community, our students will have a beautiful, innovative and 21st Century Learning Environment,” said SVMS Principal Jon Campopiano. “The Stone Valley Middle School Campus will ensure that all students will have the facilities, technology and support they need to be successful. Thank you to all who made this happen. Go Pride!"
The project is estimated to cost $37.5 million and is funded by the $260 million Measure D Facilities Bond, which was passed by voters in 2012. During the construction, 24 temporary portable classrooms have been placed on a portion of the playfield. Construction is scheduled to be completed in time for the opening of the 2017-2018 school year.
