Three-Car Accident on I-680 and Sycamore Valley Road Closes Freeway

The accident closed northbound traffic on I-680 during rush hour Tuesday and left southbound lanes at a standstill.

At 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, a three-car collision on Interstate 680 near Sycamore Valley Road temporarily shut down northbound lanes of traffic.

The accident tossed one vehicle on its side and left two others in wreckage.

San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District firefighters removed a trapped victim using hydraulic Hurst tools, the fire department said.

Three people were transported to area hospitals as a result of the crash.

Northbound lanes of I-680 were temporarily shut down as crews removed debris from the freeway. Southbound traffic was also at a standstill as drivers looked at the crash.
