Track and Field: Griffith PRs to Finish Fifth at State Meet in 800

The Wolves finished sixth in the 1600 relay

San Ramon Valley senior Kevin Griffith finished fifth in the boys 800 meter final at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis on Saturday.

Griffith ran the distance in 1:51.31, matching a time goal he set for himself after running away with the 800 meter title at NorCal Meet of Champions just one week ago.

Sean Krinik from Valencia won the 800 meter state final with a time of 1:48.20.

Griffith also took home sixth place in the boys 1600 meter relay with SRV running mates Garrett Storms, Dan Davis and Ian Padilla-Jong. The final relay time of 3:16.88 did not match the SRV school record time set in a dramatic Meet of Champions win over Deer Valley on May 29.

Serra (Gardena) cruised to the boys 1600 meter relay title in 3:08.72, nearly three seconds faster than second-place Poly (Long Beach)

SRV finished in a four-way tie for 31st in the overall boys team standings with 7 points. Jesuit (Sacramento) won the boys team title with 36 points.
