Travis Bogard Artist in Residence Program at Tao House
Deadline to apply for the month-long fellowships is November 15
November 15 is the deadline to apply for The Travis Bogard Artist in Residence (AIR) program. Established in 2015, the AIR, a creation of the Eugene O’Neill Foundation, allows developing or established playwrights, theatre directors, scholars or performing arts critics to spend up to one month working at Tao House, part of the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site, in Danville, CA.
Tao House, which served as Eugene O’Neill’s home from 1937 to 1944, is where America’s only Nobel Prize-winning playwright wrote some of his most beloved plays: The Iceman Cometh, Long Day’s Journey into Night, and A Moon for the Misbegotten.
Fellows can work in the solitude of Tao House while living offsite in comfortable, contemplative surroundings. Meals and local transportation are provided. Although there is no requirement to study O'Neill’s plays, fellows will have access to the Tao House research library and archive holdings in American theatre, including unique collections on O’Neill’s life.
