Additionally, he pursues his passion for the guitar.

Alex has studied guitar for seven years and has played guitar in concerts at Soundwall Music Camp in Santa Cruz and at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg.

His newest project combines his interest in music and engineering—he is building a guitar.

Alex also supports his local community, and  belongs to San Ramon Valley High's E2 Club, which performs engineering service projects on campus.

Alex volunteers annually at the Danville D'Elegance (benefiting Team Fox and the Parkinson's Institute), at (benefiting local homeless veterans), and helps sell Christmas trees at the Rotary Club of San Ramon lot each Christmas season.

Alex plans to study mechanical engineering when he goes to college in fall 2012.

Key to Awesomeness:  Alex says he, "approaches each new day as a fresh start."

By taking on his days this way, he doesn't let the stresses of high school get to him and maintains a positive outlook on life.

Alex says he tries to live by the rule that anything that’s worth doing, is worth doing well.

He identifies the job to be done, gives it singular focus and doesn't quit until he feels that he has given it his all.

"No one can give you success—you have to work hard if you want it," he says.

"The key to success is happiness, " he also says. "If you're not happy, you won't be motivated to better yourself."
