Wolves' Relay Teams Lead the Pack
Coach calls Phillips-McCain Invitational 'perfect day' for San Ramon Valley track and team.
The Phillips-McCain Invitational on Saturday drew track teams from 15 schools around the East Bay. The event was held under sunny skies at Campolindo High in Moraga.
San Ramon Valley posted some spectacular results in several events.
"It was a dominant performance for our varsity boys," coach Tim Stevens said. "They won every relay event except for the 4x100 relay, and our "B" team came in second."

Stevens says he typically treats the Phillips-McCain meet as an opportunity for some of his younger runners to gain experience at an invitational.
"We also had a chance to run some of our veterans who have not been able to compete in an invitational before," Stevens said.

It was a standout day for senior Sean Colaco who ran a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:16:31, just .41 shy of the school record.
"Sean ran a great race, running with a lot of confidence and led from the start to the finish," coach Tim Hunter said. "To be able to lead the entire race and run a great time of 4:16 shows that his fitness is at a high level and he will run even faster later in the season."
Colaco also came in first in the 3,200 meters and was named "Athlete of the Meet." Hunter says the senior's performance also lets his teammates know they can improve their times too.
"Overall, it was a perfect day for San Ramon Valley track and field," Stevens said.
