Youth Invited to Take Part in Free Dance Classes Taught by Cal High Dance Students
The classes begin in February and will continue through May, with a special performance by the students in early June.

California High School dancers are giving back to the community by teaching free dance classes to elementary students every Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The classes are part of Dance Daze®, a non-profit organization that provides free dance classes to students. The classes begin in February and will continue through May, with a special performance by the students in early June. They are open to all youth at no cost.
Dance students will have an opportunity to learn the basic skills: ballet, hip hop, lyrical, jazz, and tap. Students will experience what it is like to be in a dance environment and will learn warm-up exercises, dance technique, and original choreography.

“We have many experienced dancers trained in various styles of dance. They are very eager to spread their passion and love for dance with children who may not have the financial resources to take classes,” said Margie Jiang, a California High School 10th grader and the president of the school’s Dance Daze chapter. “I love teaching dance and want to spread the art throughout the community.”
Jiang has been dancing and participating in competitions for over 12 years, training in styles such as ballet, lyrical, and jazz. Other instructors include 10th grader Sydney Louie who is a member of the Young Skull Club/AOV (hip hop team) and 10th grader Gwen Tessman who has trained in many different styles of dance and has competed in competitions as well. The program is overseen by Cal High teacher Ryane Siegel and monitored by adult Dance Daze® executive board members.
