A Davis police sergeant testified that key surveillance clips tracing a bicyclist through downtown Davis have serious timestamp errors and unexplained gaps, issues defense attorneys are likely to highlight as the trial continues Monday.    

• Woodland Food Closet and Short Term Emergency Aid Committee collaborate on program (dailydemocrat.com) — A partnership between Woodland Food Closet and Davis-based STEAC has nearly completed its first school year providing weekend food packs to students, including children in Davis. Through the Food Packs for Kids program, they’ve delivered thousands of kid-friendly packs and now supply weekend food to about 660 children each month in Woodland and Davis, with plans to continue next school year.    

• DOJ Busts California University's Medical School Program for Violating Civil Rights Law by Engaging in Racial Discrimination in Admissions (resistthemainstream.com) — Federal investigators say UC Davis School of Medicine’s recent admissions practices violated civil rights law by disadvantaging white and Asian applicants through a socioeconomic ‘Davis Scale’ they argue acted as a racial proxy. The Justice Department is pressing the university to change its policies, a move that could reshape how future Davis-area medical students are evaluated and admitted.
