Yolo's newest judge 'enrobed' (dailydemocrat.com) — Yolo County has sworn in its newest Superior Court judge, Katherine Lucero, a Davis resident with decades of judicial and public service experience. She fills the seat vacated by longtime Judge Timothy Fall, a UC Davis King Hall graduate who recently retired. Local residents can expect Lucero to stand for election in March 2028 as she begins overseeing cases that directly affect county life.
   

2. Aggies Take Trio Of Individual Events In Loss To Nevada (ucdavisaggies.com) — UC Davis swimmers opened their home season in Davis with several standout individual wins, even as Nevada took the overall dual meet. Local fans can next see the Aggies at Schaal Aquatics Center on Halloween, when UC San Diego visits for a noon matchup.
   

3. BioConsortia Raises $15 Million to Expand Agricultural Microbial Technologies (citybiz.co) — A Davis-based ag-tech company, BioConsortia, has raised $15 million to scale up manufacturing and global distribution of its microbial seed treatments and biological crop products. The funding supports expansion of its Zaffre biostimulant and Always N nitrogen-fixing treatment, which aim to boost yields and reduce synthetic fertilizer use. This investment could mean more high-tech agricultural jobs and innovation rooted in Davis.
   

4. I-5 near Sacramento airport to close overnight for construction. Here's when (sacbee.com) — If you're driving from Davis toward Sacramento International Airport, expect overnight closures on I-5 between Woodland and the airport starting October 11, with detours lasting through late November. Caltrans recommends local drivers use County Road 22, while commercial trucks should stick to Highway 113 and I-80, and all travelers should allow extra time to make their flights.
   

5.
