#1 Action to Lose Weight

The most important thing you can do to lose weight is not what you put in your mouth or how much you exercise. Of course those things play into weight loss big time, but they're not the most important thing you can do to start losing weight and to keep you committed and persistent. 

The #1 action you can take lose weight is to figure out WHY you want to lose weight. The WHYs will drive your actions that will either cause weight loss or not. These Big Whys (as I call them), will help you to stay strong and motivated.  They help you resist emotional eating, get you on track when you've made mistakes and empower you to deal with cravings and hunger. 

In my work with women all across the country, I know that the people who read their Big Whys several times per day have the best weight loss success. When you remind yourself of why, the other actions and decisions happen more easily.

So what are the reasons that you want to lose weight? What are the luscious advantages of being slim? It could be things like: 

- I will love myself more

- I'll live longer

- I won't be embarrassed to be naked

- I'll be less critical of myself

Write your Big Whys on post-it notes and put 'em up where you can see them all the time. Put them on your smart phone. Set a daily calendar alarm and include them. Read these at least three times a day. This keeps your reasons for losing weight front and center. Remind yourself that while a pint of decadent ice cream may give you a moment of pleasure, losing weight is much more important and will make you feel MUCH better.
