• Fairgrounds Board Kills Affordable Housing Deal with Del Mar (voiceofsandiego.org) — Del Mar's long-negotiated plan to place affordable housing on Del Mar Fairgrounds property has been scrapped after the Fairgrounds board voted 5-3 to end its agreement with the city. That decision may push Del Mar toward using the controversial North Bluff backup site, even as political tensions, annexation questions with San Diego, and an ongoing lawsuit swirl around the city's state housing mandates.
   

• Twisted Teens sign to Sub Pop (treblezine.com) — New Orleans punk band Twisted Teens has signed with indie label Sub Pop and will bring their fall tour to The Sound in Del Mar on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The group, touring with The Breeders and later Kurt Vile, is supporting their recent albums while playing venues across California, the U.S., and Australia.
