• Del Mar Is Out of Options on Seaside Ridge (voiceofsandiego.org) — Del Mar's backup plan for meeting state affordable housing mandates has kicked in after Fairgrounds negotiations collapsed, putting the controversial 259-unit Seaside Ridge project on the North Bluff back in play. Developers and landowner Carol Lazier are pressing the city to rezone as promised, while Mayor Tracy Martinez urges the Fairgrounds board to reconsider its decision amid warnings of potential state penalties and ongoing litigation.
   

• Graded Stakes Wins Earn Rispoli Jockey of Week Honor (bloodhorse.com) — Local racing fans will recognize Del Mar Thoroughbred Club as the backdrop for jockey Umberto Rispoli's big comeback, where he captured both the Green Flash Handicap and the Del Mar Mile after returning from a serious injury. His strong performances at the Del Mar meet helped earn him Jockey of the Week honors for August 17–23.
