• Pet of the Week: Radish (10news.com) — Del Mar Dog Beach will soon host the 21st annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon, bringing more than 50 surfing dogs to raise funds for Helen Woodward Animal Center on Sunday, Sept. 13. While you're getting ready for the canine surf spectacle, you can also meet Radish, a 16-week-old Chihuahua mix available for adoption in nearby Rancho Santa Fe.
   

• Observed Ships In, Scores In Del Mar Juvenile Turf (miamiherald.com) — A promising Eastern-based colt named Observed just captured the Del Mar Juvenile Turf at the local track, earning $60,000 and remaining unbeaten in two starts. Ridden by Juan Hernandez and trained by Jonathan Thomas, the Mandaloun colt closed strongly over the Jimmy Durante Turf Course, clocking a mile in 1:36.40 and edging favorite Shadow Nation.
