Businesswoman Announces Plan for 7,000 Square Feet Del Mar Restaurant
Tracy Borkum, of the Urban Kitchen Group, will open a restaurant in the Flower Hill Promenade next spring.
Veteran restaurateur Tracy Borkum will open a 7,000 square feet restaurant in Del Mar, it was announced recently.
Borkum—the owner of Urban Kitchen Group, which owns Kensinginton Grill and CUCINA urbana in the city of San Diego—plans to open her two-story CUCINA entoeca in the Flower Hill Promenade as early as May 2013.
“We’re so fortunate in San Diego to be incredibly busy at our Banker’s Hill location,” Borkum said. “Now we’re able to give people a second option, and we’re absolutely thrilled to be part of the growing movement that’s happening in North County dining. I consider Flower Hill Promenade to be the best location in Northern San Diego—I’ve had my eye on it for nearly seven years and it’s the perfect spot for San Diego’s second CUCINA.”

The restaurant —which will also feature a wine shop and is estimated to be a multi-million dollar project—will begin construction in January 2013 and will combine the flavors of Italy and California by Chef Andrew Bachelier. Bachelier worked as a sous chef at CUCINA urbana in the San Diego neighborhood of Banker's Hill.
The Del Mar restaurant will be the company's second CUCINA entoeca with the first in Irvine, CA.
