Children Get the Spotlight in Del Mar This Weekend

The San Diego Kids Expo & Fair come to the Del Mar Fairgrounds this weekend.

The Del Mar Fairgrounds will play host to the San Diego Kids Expo & Fair this weekend.

More than 150 local and national companies that bring joy into the lives of children were expected to attend the event, according to the event website.

The expo is presented by Toyota and is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A new Baby Zone has been added for moms with infants or with babies on the way. Babies “R” Us will be hosting the baby and parent games and competitions, organizers wrote. There will also be a Home Depot Kids Workshop, where youngsters can build and paint a project.

Families can learn to cook healthy for kids in the Cooking 4 Life area. Karate instructors, soccer coaches, music schools and swim instructors are scheduled to attend.

Also included in the event are modeling agencies and charities making a difference in children’s lives, organizers wrote.

​Activites include a 200’ long Zip Line and a Euro Bungee where children can jump on trampolines and do flips safely. And the family will have a chance to meet the real Moshi Monsters from Mind Candy and other characters like The Incredibear by John’s Pizza, officials wrote.

Admission is $6. Children 12 and under are free. The fairgrounds are at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd.
