City Of Del Mar: Ashley Jones Approved As City Manager

The City Council voted unanimously Dec. 13 to appoint Interim City Manager Ashley Jones as City Manager.

Acting on a recommendation from Councilmembers Dwight Worden and Dave Druker, the Council approved a five-year appointment for Jones, who has served as interim City Manager since February.

Since 2016, Jones has served as Del Mar’s Administrative Service Director. In that role, she oversaw city clerk, information systems, risk management and human resources functions.

Jones has 21 years' experience in municipal government and held positions as a management analyst, administrative analyst and senior management analyst for the cities of Temecula, Murrieta and Poway, respectively.

In a report to the City Council, Worden and Druker stated: "It is the consensus of the City Council that during her interim appointment, Ms. Jones is doing an overall excellent job in the role of City Manager during exceptionally challenging times. She is smart, dedicated, and even keeled. Her interpersonal and communication skills are excellent, not just with Council and her staff, but also with the community and outside parties."
