City Of Del Mar: Free Sandbags For Del Mar Residents At Public Works Department

With heavy rains in the forecast this week, residents, business and property owners can fill up to 10, free sandbags during business hours at the Del Mar Public Works Department, 2240 Jimmy Durante Blvd.

The self-serve sand station is located just inside the gate behind the public works offices. Right next to the sand pile are bags, shovels and customized sections of pipe for easy filling.

Elsewhere on Monday, crews placed sandbags at key locations on City streets. Well-placed sandbags can reduce the impacts of urban runoff on lagoons, the ocean and the storm drain system.  

The National Weather Service is forecasting the heaviest rains of the season on Tuesday.
