Del Mar Adds Second Race Season for Fall
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will introduce a fall racing meet stating in 2014. This is in addition to its annual summer meet.
Your opportunity to bet on the ponies at Del Mar just doubled. The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will host a second meet to its season. At a meeting this week, the California Horse Racing tentatively approved the fall schedule starting next year.
In 2014, Del Mar will host its second race season from Nov. 5 to Dec. 7 and in 2015, from Oct. 28 to Dec. 6.
The reason for the second racing season in Del Mar is due to Hollywood Park closing at the end of the year, according to NBC San Diego. The local news station added that Del Mar and Santa Anita will pick up additional dates to keep the California Circuit intact.
The Del Mar summer meet runs July 17 through Sept. 4.
