Failed Horse Show to Auction Off 6 Horses
The producers of Valitar in Del Mar filed for bankruptcy last year.

Six horses that were part of the short-lived Valitar show in Del Mar last year are up for sale. The horses, which include an Andalusian stallion valued at $25,000, will be auctioned off on Tuesday.
The producers of the equine show abruptly cancelled all performances shortly after opening night in November. Producers have since filed for bankruptcy.
The proceeds of the auction will benefit the show's performers and vendors, many who were not paid, according to reports.
The U-T San Diego said former Valitar employees are still owed $237,000 in wage and vendors another $2.9 million. The paper said 22 of the show's horses, including the six being auctioned, were owned by Equustria, the show's production company. The paper added that some of those horses were sold to a ranch for as little as $1 as a way to pay off the ranch for boarding fees associated with the horses.
The horses being auctioned off next week are:
- Alejandro, a 13-year-old gray Andalusian stallion.
- Tucker, a 7-year-old quarter horse gelding with black mane.
- Cutty, a 8-year-old chestnut with white quarter horse gelding.
- Flicka, a 3- or 4-year-old quarter horse mare, chestnut with flaxen mane and tail.
- Pegasus, a 5- or 6-year-old mini show horse.
- Picasso, a 5- or 6-year-old mini show horse gelding.
As of Friday afternoon, the top bid for Alejandro was $1,100, $210 for Flicka, $10 for Picasso and no bids were received for Pegasus.
