Fire Damages Garage Of Carmel Valley Home

A fire spread through the garage of a Carmel Valley home, causing an estimated $210,000 worth of damage.

SAN DIEGO — A predawn fire spread through the garage of a Carmel Valley home Wednesday, causing an estimated $210,000 worth of damage.

An electrical malfunction sparked the non-injury blaze about 4:45 a.m. in the 3900 block of San Leandro Way, just north of state Route 56, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading into the living quarters of the residence and had the blaze extinguished within 20 minutes, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.

Investigators set the property losses at $150,000 to the structure $60,000 to contents.

The fire did not displace the residents of the home, Munoz said.
