It Can Wait: AT&T Urges Drivers to Keep Their Eyes on the Road, Not Their Phone

Memorial Day marks the start of 100 Deadliest Days for teen drivers as found by AAA, as more teens hit the roads in the summer.

It’s the season of graduations and road trips--a time to celebrate. However, Memorial Day also marks the beginning of the 100 Deadliest Days for teen drivers (as found by AAA) as more teens hit the roads during summer break.

In fact, AAA just released its annual Memorial Day travel report stating that nearly 34 million (89 percent) holiday travelers drove to their Memorial Day weekend destinations last weekend, an increase of 2.1 percent over last year, with gas prices at its lowest in 11 years.

With more people likely to be on the roads this summer, AT&T’s It Can Wait campaign is urging San Diego drivers to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phones, and share the message with family and friends. Plus, nearly 4-in-10 smartphone users even tap into social media while driving, almost 3-in-10 surf the internet and 1-in-10 video chat.

Drivers can visit ItCanWait.com to learn more about the campaign, take the pledge to never drive distracted, and download the AT&T DriveMode App to prevent using phones on the road.
