Marine Veteran Reported Missing in San Diego Area Found 'Alive and Safe': UPDATE

Anthony "Tony" Pastura was located by law enforcement Saturday, a family member reported on Facebook.

UPDATE: A Marine veteran from Ohio who was reported missing in San Diego County Friday night has been found, according to a family member and authorities.

Anthony "Tony" Pastura was located Saturday afternoon in Chula Vista by an off-duty sheriff's deputy, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department stated in a news release.

Pastura's stepfather, Ted Trammel, reacted to the news in a post on the Facebook page, "Find Tony Pastura."

"We have great news. About 4pm [Eastern Time] today Tony was found by law enforcement officers. He is alive and safe. We will know more soon. We will reach out through family and friends as time passes.

"The family is thankful and grateful for all of your efforts and wishes and prayers. Once again, we were overwhelmed by the love and support from all of you.

"Thank you for everything and pass along the great news."

Detectives from where Pastura went missing in Hamilton County, Ohio, said Friday that the 33-year-old veteran got off a Greyhound bus at 5 p.m. Wednesday in San Diego.

Pastura was considered critically missing by Ohio authorities because he has suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, having served multiple tours in Iraq.

SAN DIEGO, CA: Sheriff's officials asked San Diegans throughout the county Friday night to be on the lookout for a Marine veteran who went missing from Ohio.

The family of Anthony "Tony" Pastura called the North Coastal Sheriff's Station in Encinitas Friday evening to report him missing in San Diego County, authorities said.

Pastura was last seen on Monday, April 11.

Detectives from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, say he took a Greyhound bus to San Diego, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department stated in a news release.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office wrote Friday on its Facebook page:

"Our sheriff’s detectives received information that Anthony Pastura had arrived in the San Diego area at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Hamilton County sheriff’s detectives are working in conjunction with the San Diego Police (Central Division and Missing Persons) and multiple area military installations in an attempt to locate Anthony. Anthony was stationed in the area previously while serving in the United States Marines and may have friends in the region."

Pastura is 33 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair. He also has tattoos.

His whereabouts or destination in San Diego were unknown as of publication time.

A Facebook page, "Find Tony Pastura," has been set up in the effort to locate him.
