Snooze Eatery Coming to Del Mar Highlands in Few More Months

Popular breakfast eatery, Snooze, will be opening a location in the Del Mar Highland Town Center in late Summer 2013.

Residents of Del Mar will soon be hitting Snooze more often. The restaurant, that is. The Denver-based brunch eatery that made a splash in Hillcrest this past year, has announced plans to open of a second location in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center.

“We strive to find neighborhoods that are independent and unique in their own right. We want to find a close-knit community that we can join and then become a part of,” Snooze marketing representative, Rebecca Long said. “Hillcrest is funky, cool, tight knit and almost independent from its surroundings and we dug that. Del Mar gave us a similar feeling.”

The restaurant has been known to set itself apart not only with its delicious eats, but also with its ambiance. Xan Design built the Hillcrest location, and will also be responsible for the build out in Del Mar. Located caddy-cornered to Burlap, Snooze Del Mar will feature a large patio and garage-style doors.

“Every Snooze has its own personality,” Long said. “They all come from the same parent and have the same "last name" but take on their own personalities. We approach a space as a blank canvas and create from what we have.”

The first Snooze location was established in Denver in 2006 and the popular brunch spot has since expanded to six locations throughout Colorado and California. Founder Jon Schlegel has marketed the brand as a “breakfast experience,” rather than just a meal. Diners are encouraged to build their own breakfast plates with ingredients they love. And unlike some breakfast chains that use substitution ingredients or give the illusion of deliciousness by wrapping everything in bacon, Snooze’s entire menu is the real deal. They use farm fresh ingredients and free-range eggs.

For those who get their day started with a simple cup of coffee, Snooze offers exclusive organic coffee that is picked, roasted and flown in from Guatemala every week.

And if you’re feeling guilty about getting too indulgent on your visit, maybe this will help: Snooze puts a portion of every dollar earned toward a charity or toward sponsoring a positive community event.

“After a location is established we then focus on what is within 3 miles of our front door and begin to get involved and support our new community,” Long said.

Snooze projects a late summer or early Fall 2013 opening, and will be hiring team members throughout the summer. To learn more, visit snoozeeatery.com
