A Commissioner is Sought and Free Immunizations Featured in Today's Patch

Here are five things you might want to know for today, Aug. 8.

  • A Traffic and Transportation Commission Meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. at Diamond Bar City Hall’s Windmill Community Room, 21810 Copley Drive. A Power Point Presentation on Grand Avenue Beautification is scheduled to be shown.
  • A reminder that the Los Angeles County Library system, which runs libraries in Walnut and Diamond Bar, will close all its facilities so it can offer training to its staff.
  • The City of Diamond Bar’s City Clerk’s reminds residents that it is accepting applications to fill an opening on the city’s Planning Commission. The deadline to file is Aug. 30. Since the vacancy is the result of the resignation of commissioner, the term of office expires February 24, 2014. To be eligible to serve, applicants must be Diamond Bar residents, at least 18 years old, and registered to vote. Anyone interested in applying can call the City Clerk’s office at (909) 839-7010.
  • Parents looking to get their youngsters immunized before the start of the school year will have the chance through the Pomona Community Health Center’s Kids Health Fair. The shots are being offered free of charge. Here are a few details.
