DIAMOND BAR, CA — The City of Diamond Bar will kick off the holiday season with its annual Windmill Lighting Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., according to the city.

The free, family-friendly event will take place at the base of the historic windmill near the entrance to the Diamond Bar Towne Center, at the corner of Grand Avenue and Diamond Bar Boulevard, the city said.

The celebration will feature the lighting of the windmill, holiday music, hot chocolate and opportunities for holiday photos. Residents were encouraged to bring family and friends to enjoy the festivities.

The city said 30-foot historic windmill is the only remaining structure from the Diamond Bar Ranch era, which lasted from 1918 to 1956. The windmill is believed to have originally stood about 200 feet from its current location, where it served as a water source for livestock and helped irrigate crops.

The annual lighting celebration offers residents an opportunity to gather and welcome the holiday season while recognizing a piece of Diamond Bar's history.

The event is co-sponsored by the City of Diamond Bar and the Diamond Bar Community Foundation.
