Animal Control Officers Remove 32 Chihuahuas from Home

The owner of the La Puente home on Sandia Avenue said she took some in as strays.

Los Angeles Animal Care and Control officers were checking out 32 Chihuahuas taken from a La Puente home Wednesday and expected to put up for adoption as early as Friday.

Sheriff's deputies were sent to a home in the 1100 block of Sandia Avenue on an unrelated matter notified animal control officers about the situation.

"There were too many of them" said Aaron Reyes of Animal Care and Control. "Most appeared to be in pretty good shape."

The owner, a woman who told animal control officers she took in some of the dogs as strays, agreed to let animal control officers take the dogs, seven of which were puppies.

The dogs may ready for adoption as soon as noon Friday. Adoption fees, including spay/neutering, vaccinations and microchip implantation, total about $100.
