Arraignment for Former Diamond Bar School Volunteer Postponed
Lisa May, also known as Lisa Haygood, is being accused of stealing close to $40,000 from Castle Rock Elementary School's nonprofit club.

The attorney representing a former volunteer for a Diamond Bar elementary school parent organization accused of stealing nearly $40,000 from the group will get more time to prepare his client's case.
Lisa May, also known as Lisa Haygood, appeared in Pomona Superior Court today for an scheduled arraignment and plea. May, 44, was to formally hear the charges against her and enter a plea, but her attorney Albert Perez, Jr. asked that it be continued to June 13 to give him time to go over financial documents in evidence.
"We should have all of the accounting done by June 13," Perez said. "That, hopefully, will help resolve the matter."
May, 44, agreed to the continuance.
She has been charged with six felony counts including grand theft and forgery. The former Castle Rock Elementary School Community Club volunteer has been accused of allegedly forging a name on checks belonging to the nonprofit organization totaling $39,651.
The club's purpose is to raise money and enhance opportunities for students, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department wrote in a news release about May's arrest.
Detectives from the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station took May into custody March 5.
The alleged theft took place during a six-year period, sheriff's investigators said.
Other members of the group reportedly discovered the missing money in June 2011 when they reviewed the financial books and records, according to a complaint the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office filed March 13.
May remains free on $120,000 bail.
