Diamond Bar Concerts in the Park Kick Off July 6
Looking for summer fun under the stars and in the sun? Check out the Concerts in the Park and Movies Under the Stars.
Although the past few days felt like it is already upon us, summer is just around the corner. I thought I would take some time to let you know some of the exciting things to do right in our own backyard.
The Diamond Bar Summer Concerts in the Park and Movies under the Stars are always a great way to spend the evening outdoors listening to great music and to see a movie afterwards. The best part, all in one place for free, in this economy that’s a bonus.
The fun starts at Sycamore Canyon Park. Both the Sheriff and Fire Departments are on display along with various information booths, concessions for food and drink and great activities for the kids.

So, pack a light dinner, bring a blanket or chair and come see some old friends and make some new ones at this year’s concerts and movies in the park. The event is located at Sycamore Canyon Park 22930 Golden Springs Drive. It runs Wednesday’s from July 6 through August 17. Music starts at 6:30 and the movie follows at dusk. Parking is available across the street at Diamond Bar Golf Course with free shuttle service.
More information can be found at Summer Concerts.

For those of you that are feeling a little adventurous can go on a pre-concert hike right there at the park. The trail takes you from the bottom of the park at Golden Springs Road to the top of the park ending at Diamond Bar Boulevard.
At just over a half a mile, and a grade of up to 22 percent, it can be a bit of a challenge. I have hiked this trail lined with trees and a soft flowing creek many times with my wife and kids and now the new chocolate Labrador enjoys the trip as well. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
Now, since the concerts are not until July, you must ask yourself what else can I do at Sycamore Canyon Park till then? How about Geocaching? This is a fun hide and seek that is done with fellow geocachers and a portable gps unit or even the gps in your smart phone.
Just go to the link and search your city for what is called a cache box, it is simply a small box containing trinkets, coins, stamps etc, which is hidden by someone. The GPS lat/longitude are recorded and posted on Geocaching so the information can be entered in your unit for you to try and find.
Just remember, if you take a trinket you should leave a trinket. Wow all of this at your local Diamond Bar Park, what a city!
