What A Bee Wants

Save the bees by planting perfume in your garden.

When our youngest son was four he came in from outside, tears running down his face, crying "All I did was petted it - and it bit me!"

It's a short list of what bees don't want. They don't want to be dosed in pesticides and they don't want to be petted. They do, however, want to be fed.

Which is why they like our garden.  It is full of plants which allow the precious pollinators  to cross the seasons without leaving. This is a short list of 5 plants which do exceedingly well in our region to entice the bees into your garden.

  • Catmint
  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Sage
  • Sweet Alyssum

Don't fret if you forget this list when you go to the garden center. Just breathe deeply. Whatever scent is attractive to you is most likely attractive to bees.
