Charter Oak Students Move on to Los Angeles Regional Tournament in FIRST LEGO League Robotics

The Starbots, a FIRST LEGO League Robotics team in Charter Oak, competed at their Qualifying Tournament on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
Out of 24 teams at that Qualifying Tournament, Starbots won 2nd place in the Project competition, and achieved high enough scores in Robot Design, Robot Game, and Core Values to be one of six teams from that tournament to move on to the Los Angeles Regional competition, which will take place on December 10 & 11 at La Canada High School.
The Starbots members range from 3rd grade to 6th grade and competed against several teams that were mostly 7th and 8th graders. They include:
Six Cedargrove students: Owen Burmayan, Genevieve Dowens, Jeremy Elkins, Michael Espinoza, Charlie Franck, & Lorenzo Villegas
One Badillo student: Noelani Stengel
and one student, Brianna Sanchez, who attends Merced Elementary in the West Covina Unified School District
The team is coached by Charter Oak Parents, Anne Franck and Margie Dowens, and is part of the Charter Oak Community Robotics Club.
