The consent calendar was approved, with items including extending the license agreement with Coca-Cola for placement of beverage serving machines in city parks for February 1, 2012 through January 31, 2014, and authorizing the purchase of computer network equipment and a phone system from CDW-G for the new L.A. “As you may know, the tile mural next to the Diamond Bar Library entrance since it opened in 1977 is going to be moved, restored and replaced in the reading garden of the new Diamond Bar Library building,” he said. “We are having the conservator give a talk on the process of restoring and moving our mural, and she is also going to talk about some other projects she has worked on. As a special guest, the original artist of the mural will also be there to answer questions. It’s a really neat opportunity to learn a little more about civic art that’s been in the community for 35 years.”
During council member comments, Mayor Ling-Ling Chang briefly touched on her experience at the U.S. Conference of Mayors last month, when she had the “phenomenal opportunity” to meet President Barack Obama in the White House. Council member Ron Everett said that it was a “good start of a new month,” and he hoped that everyone would join the city during an open house at the new City Hall Tuesday, February 21, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at 21810 Copley Drive.

According to City Manager Jim DeStefano, the February open house will be a “soft opening” and the big open house will happen in July, when the new library is finished.
“We will likely be looking at an all day Saturday event, when people can visit the new library and city hall as well,” he said.
