Here are five things happening around Diamond and Walnut today.
- The weather’s been great the last few days, so what better way to celebrate than a night at the park. The weekly Diamond Bar Concerts in the Park and Movies Under the Stars will kick off at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Sycamore Canyon Park, 22930 Golden Springs Drive. Tonight’s lineup includes the band Cold Duck playing 70s Top 40 music. And when the sun goes down, the inflatable big screen will be playing the recent animated feature “Rise of the Guardians.” The event, which features community booths, is free, and free shuttles are available to and from the Diamond Bar Golf Course parking lot starting at 5:30 p.m. Dogs and other pets, except for registered service animals, are discouraged due to the large crowds.
- Vintage car lovers and their owners will have a chance to see and show off their wares today at Fairplex as part of the Prolong Twilight Cruise. All 1972 and older hot rods, custom cars, muscle cars and classic are invited to take part in the event, which will be from 4 to 8 p.m. in front of the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum. Admission to the event is free, and there will be free admission to the museum after 3 p.m. Food and drinks will be available, and a raffle will be held, with proceeds benefiting the museum. Also, some of the classic cars in attendance will be invited to parade down the Pomona Drag Strip during the NHRA Finals in November.
- Looking to get out of the house with your little one? Well, head over to the Diamond Bar Library at 4 p.m. for the weekly baby and toddler story time. The hour-long story time is perfect to get your little ones active for a short time. And if you don’t have little ones, and prefer a little me time, then the Walnut library is the home for the knitting and crocheting club. The group meets weekly at 1 p.m., and new patterns are shared. It is open to all ages and skill levels. And if you need to go to the library at all, the you better do it Wednesday, because all Los Angeles County libraries will be closed Thursday (Aug. 8) for staff training.

- Speaking of Amber Alerts, here is an update on what has happened since they issued the alert.
