Coroner IDs Diamond Bar Man In Remote Mountain Crash

A Diamond Bar man was identified Wednesday after he was killed driving a winding mountain road late Tuesday. CHP & Coroner were on scene.

DIAMOND BAR, CA — The Los Angeles County Coroner identified a Diamond Bar man who was killed in a tragic evening crash, authorities said. George McCreary Jr., 64 of Diamond Bar, was driving late Tuesday in the Mt. Wilson area near Altadena when his vehicle tumbled down a steep embankment.

"The crash was reported at 8:15 p.m. on Mt. Wilson Red Box Road," according to the California Highway Patrol.

McCreary Jr. died at the scene, the coroner's office reported.

"The Ford that McCreary was driving was southbound on Mt. Wilson Red Box Road when, for unknown reasons, it veered to the right and traveled onto a raised curb and into a metal guardrail, then down a steep embankment, slamming into several large trees," CHP reports said.

The Ford came to a rest on its right side against a large tree.
