Diamond Bar Grad Wins Biology Scholarship At Hamilton College

Elaine Yip has won the Renwick Prize in Biology at Hamilton College.

DIAMOND BAR, CA —A Diamond Bar graduate has won a Hamilton College prize scholarship in Biology.

Elaine Yip was named the recipient of The Renwick Prize in Biology at Hamilton College's Class & Charter Day, held on May 13. Established in 1950, the event combines the traditional Class Day celebrating the end of classes with a commemoration of the granting of College's charter on May 26, 1812.

Yip, a sophomore majoring in biochemistry/molecular biology, is a graduate of Diamond Bar High School.

The Renwick Prize in Biology, awarded to a member of the senior or junior class, provides a scholarship for the study of biology during the summer.

Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, Hamilton College offers an open curriculum that gives students the freedom to shape their own liberal arts education within a research- and writing-intensive framework. Hamilton enrolls 1,850 students from 49 states and 49 countries.
