The Diamond Bar City Council approved this week the purchase of ten closed circuit television cameras for the monitoring of traffic conditions and traffic signal operations. The city council unanimously approved the $74,062.50 purchase at Tuesday's meeting. The cameras are being funded through Prop C funds, according to a Dec. 13 city staff report recommending the purchase.  In total, the project will cost $117,662.50, including installation, with $115,000 coming from the appropriation of Prop C funds, the staff report stated. Currently, the city has eight of these cameras up around town, which provide a real-time video feed to the city's traffic management center. "Additional locations were proposed/selected because they are heavily traveled arterial intersections or locations that received significant school area traffic," the staff report says.
