Diamond Bar High School Earns Another Top Ranking

Weeks after being ranked by one publication in the top 100 schools in the state, Diamond Bar High earns the rank of 19th in the state by a different publication.

Newsweek magazine has named Diamond Bar High among the top schools in the Nation in a recent ranking of 1,000 schools.

Diamond Bar was listed at 19th in the state and 135th in the US.

Newsweek’s list of America’s Best High Schools rewards the institutions leading the way in getting their students ready for college and beyond, according to Walnut Valley Unified School District officials.

This is the seventh consecutive year that DBHS has been named to the prestigious listing of America’s Best High Schools, officials said.

The ranking is based on the school’s 2011 graduation rate, 100 percent, collegematriculation rate, 97 percent, AP/IB tests administered per student, .08, average SAT/ACT scores, 1737/27.2, and average AP scores, 3.7.

“We are especially gratified because Diamond Bar High School is an open enrollment school that was ranked against charter and magnet schools across the nation and the state.  When ranked against other open enrollment high schools, Diamond Bar High School came in 51st in the nation, and 11th in the State of California,” said Principal Catherine Real.

The Newsweek ranking comes on the heels of the rankings that listed Diamond Bar High School 61st in a list of best high schools in California. The school is ranked 316th in the United States, according to usnews.com.
