WALNUT, CA — Morning commuters, be aware. A fatal hit and run has closed one of the main roads in West Covina Thursday for police investigations.
A woman in her 30s was struck and gravely injured Thursday morning in a hit-and-run crash in West Covina, prompting the closure of main thoroughfare in the city.
The crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Azusa and Francisquito avenues, said West Covina police Officer Eddie Flores.

The woman was walking in a crosswalk when a northbound vehicle struck her and kept going, Flores said.
The woman was taken to the hospital in "very grave" condition, he said.

Police said the suspect vehicle is possibly a dark compact car.
All Azusa Avenue lanes are expected to be closed until at least 8 a.m.
