Five Things: Discussion of PONY League Fields and Squirrels With the Plague

Here are five things you should know in Diamond Bar and Walnut on Thursday, July 25:

  • Diamond Bar’s Public Library, part of the county system, will present Abitt the Average's Comedy Magic & Juggling: A Real Taste of Fun from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Friday. “This hilarious, high-energy entertainment experience is packed with audience participation and non-stop laughs that'll leave you hungry for more,” library officials wrote in an announcement. Seating is limited. Parents of children 5 and up are warned that they will be asked to wait in the library until staffers determine how much space is available.   • If you’re headed to the Angeles National Forest in Wrightwood area you might want to stay away from the Broken Blade, Twisted Arrow and Pima Loops of the Table Mountain Campgrounds after at least one ground squirrel infected with the plague. The sites were officially closed at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and will be closed for at least seven days. Read KTLA’s Channel 5’s story here.
  • If you have any concerns over the fields or recreational facilities in Diamond Bar, the you can address the Parks and Recreation Commission during its regularly scheduled meeting tonight at 7 at Diamond Bar City Hall - Windmill Community Room, 21810 Copley Drive. Recreation staff plans to present a report about how the PONY League's fields can be scheduled to benefit the user groups in the city.
