DIAMOND BAR, Calif. – Regional policy makers and thought leaders will gather here on June 13 to discuss ways to accelerate the economic recovery, drive job growth and confront growing challenges cities and counties face in the post-redevelopment era. The Four Corners Coalition, made up of leaders from Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange and San Bernardino counties, will host the morning-long summit at Diamond Bar Center, 1600 S. Grand Ave., beginning with registration at 7:30 a.m. “Our region continues to face formidable challenges, and to sit back and do nothing isn’t an option,” said Carol Herrera, a Diamond Bar City Council member and chairperson for the Coalition. “Our goal with this year’s summit is to show the power of regional thinking and regional collaboration when it comes to driving our economy.” Kicking off the event will be a panel discussion titled, “It’s the economy – what are we doing about it,” moderated by San Bernardino County Administrative Officer Greg Devereaux and featuring Hasan Ikhrata, executive director of the Southern California Association of Governments; Lucy Dunn, president and chief executive officer of the Orange County Business Council; and Greg McWilliams, president of Newhall Land and Farming Co. “Economic activity and job growth don’t just happen. They’re very much within our spheres of influence,” said Coalition executive Steve PonTell. “It takes a united effort from the public, private and nonprofit sectors to move the needle forward, which is what the Four Corners Coalition is about.” The 2013 Economic Summit is being sponsored by National Community Renaissance, the City of Ontario, Waste Management, Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor Supervisor Don Knabe, Brookfield Homes, the City of Corona, the City of Industry, Foothill Transit, Valley Vista Services and San Bernardino County Fourth District Supervisor Supervisor Gary Ovitt.
