Hagman Gives Update to Diamond Bar City Council
Assemblyman Curt Hagman represents the 60th Assembly District.

During Tuesday night’s Diamond Bar City Council meeting, Assemblyman Curt Hagman gave an update from Sacramento.
“The biggest thing is the state budget,” he said. “We’re still overspending for what we have coming in.”
Hagman also touched upon public safety realignment, which he said “will affect all communities in California.”

“It is to basically hold between 30,000 to 35,000 inmates that would normally go to state prison at county jails,” he said. “L.A. County and many others don’t have the room to hold the volume that is expected to come out in the first year. There will be additional pressures on local law enforcement, and people in custody or jail or serving time will probably be let our much quicker than anyone expects.”
After his presentation, Councilmember Ron Everett thanked Hagman for participating in a seminar for restaurant owners along with Controller John Chiang in Chino Hills.

“It was excellent and I think the people who were there were impressed and informed,” he said.
Everett also called attention to the $6 billion in unclaimed property that the state has in its possession, which belongs to about 17.6 million individuals and organizations.
“You can go to a database at www.claimit.ca.gov or by calling 800-992-4647,” Everett said. “I think it might be worth checking into that.”
The next meeting of the Diamond Bar City Council is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m.
