Assembly Bill Proposes Small Business Reps for Air Resources Board, Passes Senate
The proposed measure would mandate that small business owners have representation on the State Air Resources Board.

A bill designed to give small business owners representation on the State Air Resources Board received unanimous support on the Assembly Floor last week.
Assembly Bill 135, authored by Assemblyman Curt Hagman, R-Chino Hills, said in press released that he is pleased that 71 members voted in favor of the measure.
The bill requires the 11-member State Air Resources Board to appoint a representative from the small business community. The board currently has representatives from a variety of fields from automotive engineers to chemists to authorities on air pollution.

For 35 percent of small businesses, energy costs rank in the top three for expenditures, Hagman said. Small businesses need to have a voice on the board, which imposes regulations that affect them, he said.
"I am excited to see that my colleagues from both side of the aisle understand the necessity for this legislation," Hagman said in a statement. "California needs to be a competitive and fair place to do business and having a small business member on the Air Resources Board acknowledges the importance of independent businesses and their contributions to the state's economy.”
