"The people of LA County understand that the choice between clean air and great jobs is a false one. I'll be advocating for both on SCAQMD."

DIAMOND BAR, CA — The South Coast Air Quality Management District Governing Board has a new member today, with Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn was sworn in Friday. Hahn is the newest member of the fourth district, which stretches from Marina del Rey through the beach cities, Palos Verdes Peninsula, Harbor Area, Long Beach and the Gateway Cities and east to Diamond Bar.

She previously served on the Los Angeles City Council for 10 years and in Congress for 5 1/2 years.

Some of the communities she represents have been disproportionately impacted by poor air quality, including the Harbor Area and the cities alongside the Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to AQMD officials, who also noted that while a member of the Los Angeles City Council in 2006.
