High School Student Struck, Injured Crossing Street

A teenage boy struck by a car Wednesday morning suffered severe injuries while crossing Garey Street, officials say.

POMONA, CA — A high school aged boy was struck by a car in the middle of the street, Pomona police reported Wednesday.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., a car hit the boy as he was walking in the middle of the street near the intersection of Alvarado Street and Garey Avenue, a police spokesperson said.

The boy suffered "head trauma" and was taken by ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he was listed in "critical condition," police said.

The driver stopped at the accident scene and was cooperating with law enforcement, police said. The pedestrian's identity was not immediately released.

"The investigation continues in the area of the collision and may affect your commute," they said.
