The Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation (NYWCRF) announced the appointment of Bridget Quijada to its board of directors. Quijada is founder of Angels on the Frontline, a nonprofit that honors the memory of her daughter, Jacqualine and son, Ernie.
Angels on the Frontline will host their first event, Jax Hike during Cervical Health Awareness Month at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Summitridge Park, 1425 Summitridge Drive in Diamond Bar, California 91765. Hikers may pledge at Jax Hike in care of Angels on the Frontline, 500 Magnolia Ave in Brea, California 92821 and get more information at www.angelsonthefrontline.org.
“Bridget is passionately committed to reaching out to the community and preventing the suffering brought on by HPV and cervical cancer,” said Dr. John P. Quijada, a resident of Brea, CA was first introduced to the Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation when her daughter, Jacqualine, was treated for stage II B cervical cancer by Dr. Alberto Mendivil. Jacqualine’s brave battle ended with her death on November 23, 2013.
“Because of my daughter, I am spreading the message that men and women need to understand the silent threat of HPV and cervical cancer so they protect and take care of themselves,” she said. “Proceeds from Jax Hike will go to the Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation so that mothers, grandmothers, daughters , sisters and aunts aunts will no longer suffer from this disease.”
