LA County Gas Prices Rise for Sixth Day Straight

The average price is 5 cents more than a week ago, experts said.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the sixth consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.233.

The average price is 5 cents more than a week ago but 7.2 cents less than one month ago and 5.8 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price had decreased for 35 consecutive days before the streak of increases began.

The streak of increases to the Orange County average price was extended today to a fifth day, but barely, rising one-tenth of a cent  to $4.207, one day after an increase of 1.4 cents.

The Orange County average price is 5.2 cents more than a week ago, but 7.7 cents less than one month ago and 5.8 cents lower than one year ago.

The Orange County average price had decreased for 35 consecutive days before the streak of increases began.

The recent increases are the result of supply issues stemming from operational issues at various refineries, according to Tom Kloza, the chief oil analyst of the Oil Price Information Service.
