Man Fatally Shot in La Puente Identified

A homicide investigation was underway today in La Puente, where a man was shot to death.

The shooting was reported just before 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 15800 block of Sierra Vista Court, said Deputy Peter Gomez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

He was identified by a coroner's official as Thomas Salas, 23, whose city of residence was unknown.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives were sent to investigate, Gomez said.
