Monday Essentials: Burglary Suspect in Court, Walnut City Council Pick, and Couponing

Here are five things residents of Diamond Bar and Walnut need to know this week.
1. An 18-year-old man arrested last week on suspicion of breaking into apartments in Diamond Bar is expected to appear in court today. Martin Joshua Payton is being held on $50,000 bail.
2. The Diamond Bar Public Library will host the third Cooking with Chef Julie Workshop art activity at 2 p.m. today. Click here for more information about the program for elementary school-aged children.
3. Both the cities of Walnut and Diamond Bar will have concerts/movies in the park events this week as part of an annual summer series. 4. The Walnut City Council will have a special meeting Wednesday to appoint a candidate to the seat left vacant when former Mayor Tom King resigned July 1. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at Walnut City Hall. Click here to read more.
