An Open Letter: Re-elect Adrienne Konigar-Macklin for Pomona Unified School District School Board

Dear Friends,

I am writing an appeal to voters to support Adrienne Konigar-Macklin for re-election to the Pomona Unified School District School Board. As a long time Pomona taxpayer, Pomona parent and educator, I am excited about Ms. Konigar-Macklin continuing to bring a high level of leadership to our school district.

During Ms. Konigar-Macklin’s tenure, she has exhibited a tireless commitment to students by coalescing both public and private resources to bring a broad range of opportunities for students served by Pomona Unified School District: From supporting more resources for students to more teacher training, creating new K-8 schools to modernizing our high school facilities.

As a leading member of the school board, she has been a strong advocate for more college access programs. Under her leadership, Pomona High Schools have increased college acceptances among seniors by as much as 70 percent. Her passion for fighting for more college opportunities for students not only comes from an unwavering commitment to serve all students in Pomona Unified Schools – but from her own passion as a Pomona unified parent.

Ms. Konigar-Macklin success as a school board member since 2008 is undoubtedly shaped by her extensive experience as an education lawyer, all the while, establishing a proven track record for advancing policies at the state and local levels on behalf of students. Ms. Konigar-Macklin has been a leading voice to address contemporary challenges in Civil Rights, Women issues and closing the achievement gap.

School districts around the State continue to experience unprecedented fiscal challenges. Some districts are reporting as much as nearly 20 percent across the board cuts to their annual budgets. In light of the new fiscal realities in public education, Pomona Unified needs strong and balance leadership that only Ms. Koniger-Macklin can bring to a school board. In re-electing Ms. Konigar-Macklin parents and taxpayers will be able to count on her to make the tough fiscal choices while protecting programs integral to student success and classroom instruction.

 I am asking all voters served by Pomona Unified School District to join me in re-electing Adrienne Koniger-Macklin to the Pomona Unified School District School Board.
