POLL: Should Gary Miller Run in the 31st Congressional District?
Instead of going up against Ed Royce in the newly formed 39th District, Miller is heading inland to the 31st, where he will be up against state Senator Bob Dutton and Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar.

The race for the Inland Empire’s 31st Congressional District keeps getting new players: on Wednesday, state Senator Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) announced he was entering the race, joining his fellow Republican Congressman Gary Miller (R-Diamond Bar) and Democrat Pete Aguilar, current mayor of Redlands.
They are running for the seat Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Redlands) will vacate at the end of the year. As Loma Linda Patch , the 31st District race is another example of the scramble set off by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission as some elected officials find their districts chopped up and rearranged.
Because he is running in the 31st, Miller will avoid going up against Congressman Ed Royce (R-Fullerton) for the 39th Congressional District. The districts the two men currently serve were altered during the redistricting process, and would have turned the colleagues into rivals for the newly formed 39th District, which includes Diamond Bar and Walnut.
